Why economics?

Economics seems to be intimidating to many,

unlike psychology where it sounds more fun to learn.

Economics doesn't only deal with 

GDP , unemployment and other silly numbers

that are irrelevant to our daily life,

but it does give us a new notion to life 

in terms of how to allocate our precious assets - money.

Economics teaches us how to manage our money 

and make decision wisely.

However, how the concept may be taught 

will surely be different in each course depending on the instructors.

The concept itself is actually worth learning 

as it will increase our financial knowledge apart from those professional knowledge

that we will get to learn in the course in university.

Many professionals have failed to manage the money 

and have problems in life despite their high incomes.

This is due to their lack of financial knowledge.

Well, at least there is a saying 

better know something than know nothing at all.

It doesn't hurt to gain new knowledge anyway.

So , do you know how to manage your money???

Good luck in Japanese

I just learnt today that

there is no exact meaning of good luck in Japanese.

There is only "ganbatte" 

which means 

"do your best".

This shows that 

Japanese don't believe in luck 

but the effort of oneself.

If you try your best,

there is nothing to be disappointed about.

So there is nothing more important 

than trying your best 

and just believe in luck 

like other nations.

birthday

We all have a special day once a year.

We seem to be looking forward to this day 

to celebrate with friends and family

and also

to expect the presents from others.

That is traditional thought.

But things are about to change (or may have changed).

Some try to give out more on this special occasion

which is a good thing.

This special day is supposed to be 

a giving day 

not a receiving day 

like many would have wanted.

Each birthday reminds us

 of how long we have breathe in this world

and also to cherish the good things others do for us 

especially those brought us to this world.

Also, to realise that we haven't done much good things

and should help out and pay it forward more of what we have gained.

When we die , we can take nothing with us 

only the experience and good and bad things we did.

So why waste this special day on celebration and alcohol???

Lion King 2011

One of the classic movie for the 90s

Lion King

has returned in 3D

and breaks into number 1 in box office in USA.

We all seem to want to visit the past 

once in a while.

Going back to the old movie often brings back the old memory 

when we went to the movie at the time.

That is one of the reasons 

why many movies are being remade yearly.

But this one is different,

the plot is the same , the characters and everything is unchanged

but only in 3D.

Still, the originality brings people of all ages 

including those who haven't seen it

back to the theatre once more.

Let's go to the movie and visit our past once again, shall we?

It is normal

Once there was a millionaire who just lost his only beloved son.

He searched far and wide to bring his son back

but it was hopeless.

Then he heard that there was a monk who has spiritual power

and he might be able to help.

He then reached this monk and 

asked him to help to resurrect his son.

The monk knew that the millionaire was coming

and there was no way he could refuse the man.

So when the millionaire asked him to bring his son back from death,

he simply accepted and 

told him to bring the rice from ten families that 

have no deaths in the family before.

The millionaire agreed and told his servants 

to help him search for the family who has no deaths in the family.

But there was pointless.

Every family in the town and neighbouring towns

has at least one death in the family.

Then the millionaire came to a realisation 

that death is common and inevitable.

It is so normal and happens everyday.

That is a fact of life.

Paycheck

A movie from 2003 about a guy who is assigned to do a task 

which he cannot remember and he is chased because of it.

His 3 years' was not accounted for in his memory.

So it is his job to retrieve the memory.

A very good movie to watch,

one phrase from the movie which I will not forget:

Those who see the future have no future.

Think about it next time you go to the fortune teller !!!

eyes can't see , ears can't hear

What happens when your eyes can't see and your ears can't hear?

No, I am not saying that you are blind or deaf,

but 

you are perfectly normal!!!

Your eyes can't see and your ears can't hear 

without our precious organ

the brain.

The brain is the organ interpreting the light from your eyes

and the vibrations from your ears.

All your eyes detect is simply different frequency of light 

and your eyes send the inverted image to your brain 

where the image is interpreted with your past experience

and your brain gives you instruction to respond to the image

be it 

happy , sad , excited ,  bored or no feeling at all.

For example,

you woke up in the middle of the night 

and saw someone standing beside your bed 

and started to get frightened

but then when you look again,

you simply realise that it is your jacket hanging by the wardrobe

and then you just feel relaxed.

So the eyes  can't see and the ears can't hear

but the brain sees and hears.

This article may open your eyes and also your brain,

I hope.

Do a favor and don't expect a return

Sometimes we do something and expect that 

we should receive the same kind of manner

but 

when we don't get what we expect,

we get disappointed and even feel bad towards the person we give the favor to.

So the good feeling is turned into absolutely bad feeling.

If that is the case,

we should be better off staying alone

and not giving anyone a favor 

as we will end up feeling upset ourselves.

But

if we just ignore any kinds of return from the favor we give,

we will feel much better from the act of our own kindness.

Actually,

we should even be thankful for them,

as if they don't receive your favor,

you wouldn't be able to give the favor in the first place.

But if we do something and hoping that they would appreciate it,

we would not be at all happy from the return of your effort.

Expect nothing and you will gain everything.

groundhog day

A very old movie

about a man who 

has to repeat the same day ,  Groundhog Day.

Whatever happened during the day,

whether good or bad,

he had to do it all over and over again.

He even tried to commit suicide

as he couldn't stand it anymore,

but

he couldn't escape this loop.

When he realized that 

he had to stick here forever,

he decided to change his life

and did the best possible thing he could.

He took the advantage of what he had in hand,

and turned it into the best thing!!!

It is the same with life.

 We have to do the same thing over and over,

but 

only when we realize that

we have to repeat the same things

so 

it is best that

we should do it better each life we are born to this world,

don't you think?

the sixth sense

We all have studied about the five sense organs

1) Eyes - responds to light 

2) Ears - responds to sound and balance

3) Nose - responds to smell and taste

4) Tongue - responds to taste

5) Skin - responds to touch , pressure and temperature from the outside body.

And the sixth sense

which many have interpreted as the ability to see ghost,

is actually the mind.

To describe the mind is quite hard

as it is abstract and 

 cannot be pinpointed the exact position in our body organ.

Some languages ,for example Thai, 

use the word of mind as heart 

but the mind is not in the heart 

as the mind could still work even the heart may not be working 

or the brain where the central nervous system is taking the order from 

is not the mind either.

The mind could be perceived as our soul 

and to receive the signal where the five organs cannot perceive.

Ghost which is a wave could be perceived with the mind

the sound which others cannot hear and the ears cannot detect

can be detected by the mind.

But why doesn't everyone have such an ability to do so ?

This could be because 

we use too much of the five organs 

and the sixth organ is sometimes not required.

But when we are in deep sleep or at peace with ourselves

we will be able to exercise this sixth sense 

and this comes to the term

mind power.

May the force be with you 

is also the force from the mind.

The more often you practise 

the better you can use the skill.

The mind is no exception.

The only question is when 

you really want to work hard and possess this extraordinary power.

AEC , what is it?

While the other part of the world are talking about

ECB ( European Central Bank)

and the European debts,

we on the different part of the world

are talking about 

AEC (Asean Economic Community).

What is AEC?

AEC is meant to be united the Asean countries as one community 

just like what Europe does?

We may not have the single currency like the Euro yet,

but we will have less barriers between countries in Asean.

This means that the competitions will not be just in Thailand anymore.

Singaporeans who are already investing here and the like of

Malaysians , Indonesians , Vietnamese and so on 

will come to open more businesses in Thailand.

Also,

the opportunities for Thai businesses to go abroad would be

better than ever as well.

That is why the government are trying to push us

to become aware of what to happen in a few years' time.

Jobs may be harder to find in Thailand and easier elsewhere

or it could be other way round.

But what is very important to know 

apart from English is now essential 

is that

we are not alone anymore!!!!
