How much sleep do we need?

Have you ever asked yourself this question?

Why are we feeling so tired all the time

despite our 12 hours sleep?

Is the amount of time of sleep really important?

Why can some people look fresh after only 7 or 8 hours or even less?

The answer is very simple.

The sleep cycle.

Circadium Rhythm Sleep Stages Grapic

From the chart,

if we wake up in the bottom part of the graph,

we will surely feel tired.

On the contrary,

if we happen to be up on the top of the graph,

we will feel fresh.

But the problem is our mind

telling us that it is too early to get up

(even though we are up at the top of the sleep cycle )

so we decide to go back to sleep again.

When we realise that it is time we have to get up,

it is at the bottom of the graph already

that is why we find it hard to get up this second time.

As we are late or almost late,

we have to rush to do things and

that makes us even more tired.

Then comes a good advice

from the elders

"Do not go back to sleep once you are already up."

except when you get up during the night

to go to the bathroom

of course

;)
